These five factors may cause the UPS power supply to fail prematurely!

1. Poor storage of UPS power

Even if the UPS power supply is not used, its life will begin to decrease. That's because the lead-acid UPS power supply will automatically release a small amount of energy.

In order to extend the storage life of the UPS power supply, it is recommended that you charge it every three to four months. If you don't do this, you may see permanent capacity loss in just six months. You can also extend the service life of unused UPS power supplies at 50°F (10°C) or lower.

2. The ambient temperature is too high

The rated capacity of each UPS power supply is based on an ambient temperature of 25°C (77°F). Any changes (especially temperature rise) will affect performance and service life. Generally, for every 15°F increase in the recommended ambient temperature, the life expectancy of the UPS power supply will be reduced by 50%.

For the UPS power supply, the working environment should be the same as that of the computer. The temperature should be controlled above 5℃ and below 22℃; the relative humidity should be controlled below 50%, and the upper and lower ranges should not exceed 10%. Routine maintenance inspections can help spot hot spots and verify ventilation.

3. Excessive circulation

After the UPS runs on the UPS power supply during a power failure, the UPS power supply will be charged for future use, which is called a discharge cycle. After the UPS power supply is installed, the UPS power supply will reach 100% of its rated capacity. However, each discharge and subsequent charge will slightly reduce the capacity of the UPS power supply.

4. Incorrect floating voltage

Each UPS power supply manufacturer will specify the charging voltage range for its own UPS power supply design. Precautions for maintenance of UPS power supply

The maintenance and use of UPS power supply are inseparable. There should be scientific use methods and correct maintenance methods to achieve high UPS utilization.

1. When the uninterruptible power supply UPS is maintained, it must be performed while shutting down to prevent internal high voltage from ionizing and causing charged particles to trigger IGBT and cause equipment failure.

2. If the UPS power supply with maintenance bypass can be transferred to the maintenance bypass, the internal power is still live during maintenance.

3. The UPS power supply must be self-discharged before maintenance.

4. Use a vacuum blower as a maintenance tool, and never use a damp cloth.
